Cian Walsh put the disappointment of this morning Hurling quarter final loss behind him by zooming up the M50 and to Abbotstown to watch The St Brendan’s Camogie team, sponsored by Comtech Engineering and Ryan’s of Camden Street continue their incredible upward trajectory by winning the Final of the Junior 4 Camogie Championship.

The Dark Force Camogs defeated Naomh Olaf in the final, on a final score of 5-7 to 1-1.

The star of the show was Ciara Howard who scored scored 4 goals and whilst Claire Doyle got the other one to the delight of her boyfriend, Football 1st XV star Diarmuid Cooney.

Nota Brennan got 3 scores, Ciara Howard added a point to her four goals. Eanna Larkin will be disappointed with this morning, but his fiancé, Ailish Brennan won’t be and she got a point this afternoon whereas Siobhan Henderson scored two points .

For eight of the players today, Erin Fadian, Eyna Cody, Aoife Hamilton, Caroline O’Connor, Anne Marie Casey, Maria Malony (who also won Player Of The Match), Augustina Lazzarini and Helen Macklin, it was a double celebration as they add a Camogie medal with the Ladies Football medal won last August.

All the players will no doubt celebrate into the wee small hours in Ryan’s of Camden Street, where the drink will flow, but for St Brendan’s power couple, Diarmuid Cooney and Claire Doyle, a pizza and a recording of The Graham Norton Show will suffice.
