Focus turned to the Cup competitions for both St Brendan’s Ladies Football 1st and 2nd teams this Wednesday evening, after a week’s break and both teams had home advantage. The 1sts are in Grangeorman to take on Round Towers Lusk whilst the 2nd XV are in Longmeadows to face St Patricks Donabate in a rematch from their League fixture two weeks ago.
Before we see what happened this evening, here is summery on how both teams have got on in the last few weeks.
The Ladies Football 1st XV, Sponsored by McGowans, like their male counterparts, sit 4th in their League (Division 4) with 5 wins and 2 losses. The second loss came away to second placed St Peregrines on a 3-7 to 3-5 score line on May 13th, But The Female Dark Force bounced back and recorded a superb 6-11 to 3-1 victory over Castleknock on May 20th and on May 27th used every last ounce of sheer grit and determination to record a one point victory, 2-8 to 2-7 away to Clontarf.
Heather Cullen and Holly Redington got both goals in Clontarf and Sinead Morrissey scored 4 points.
The Ladies Football 2nd XV, Sponsored by Bartra Healthcare had two losses on that same period, 5-11 to 3-5 against Na Fianna and 3-12 to 1-7 over St Patricks Donabate. However, The Female Darkest Force got the perfect pick me up with a 0-10 to 0-6 win over Whitehall Colmcilles on May 27th.
So onto tonights home fixtures.
The Ladies 1sts unfortunately were beaten 2-11 to 2-7 by Round Towers Lusk, in The Division 4A Cup.
The Ladies 2nds, in their Division 7B Cup fixture against Donabate, despite only trailing by 3 points at half time and missing a penalty 10 minutes in the second half, Donabate pulled away to win 5-6 to 0-6.
Next up for the Ladies 1sts is a home fixture at home to Beann Eidair and for the 2nds an away trip to Clonee and a fixture against Erin Go Bragh. Again in Cup Competitions.
