The St Brendan’s Ladies Football 2nd XV, Sponsored by Bartra Healthcare, became the 2nd of the Club’s six Adult teams to enter Championship action for 2026 and a home fixture against Howth outfit Beann Eidair in Longmeadows in the PTSB LGFA Junior J Championship. 

The Female Darkest Force entered this evening's contest buoyed by an excellent 5-7 to 2-12 victory over Na Fianna, on July 22nd also in Longmeadows, in the PTSB Adult Cup Division 7B. Kelly Fisher, Niamh Cooney, Áine Kennedy, Caoimhe Ryan and Áine Cleary scored the goals. 

But for one St Brendan’s player this evening, Full Back Tara Gilmartin, from Bonniconlon Co. Mayo, she went into this evening’s contest on Cloud 9, or is it Cloud 51? Or Even Cloud 75? Oh never mind! Anyway, she was after seeing her beloved County Mayo, finally win The All-Ireland Senior Football Championship after 75 years. 

And The Bonniconlon Bunny Gilmartin put the celebrations on pause temporarily this evening by showing more tenacity at Full Back thanfellow Mayoman Donnacha McHugh showed in Croke Park yesterday when rescuing a priceless Championship point for her side when keeping Beann Eidair out from getting a last smash and grab point on a final score of 2-12 to 2-12. Karen Sheehan and Kellie Fisher were the goalscorers.

24 Hours earlier, The Hurlers, sponsored by Bodibro went down 2-16 to 2-12 against Pobal Parnell in Round 3 of the PTSB Junior C Championship and must get a result against Faughs on August 16th, to keep their chances of a Quarter Final spot alive.
