Following the acute defeat to Naomh Olaf two weeks ago, the St Brendan's Football 1st XV (sponsored by Michael Cox Furniture, but wearing the 2nds's jerseys this morning) travelled to Ballyogen Wood in Foxrock and a Round 2 AFL5 South fixture against Geraldine P Morans, still searching for a first win, in the first match up between the two sides since that infamous 2019 Junior 1 Club Semi Final.

John Burns gave The Dark Force a good start when pointing a free in after Ger Bannon was pushed in the back when picking up the ball, Burns put great swerve in the free in. Despite Phil Bannon winning a Mark from the kick out, the move broke down with a turnover and Ger Moran's brutally exposed St brendan's defensice frailities by beating Eoghan Clogher for goal in what was Mr Twitter first concession of a green flag.

Another point for the home side followed, John Burns added a second point a carbon copy of his first free, again Ger Bannon drew the foul for allow Burns to score, 1-1 to 0-2 after 6 minutes, which remained the score until the 19th minute, in a period with saw the home side boss possession, but couldn't convert the score, hitting six wides, whereas Burns notched up his hat trick of points with a point from play after full back Liam 'Oisin Mullin' Atkinson won possession, another Morans point followed as the sides went into a rather belated water break 22:30 gone in the first half.

Geraldine Morans hit one more point before the half time break and St Brendan's had a shot cleared for a 45, but John Burns decided to play the 45 short to Luke 'The Miracle Worker' McDonagh, but the referee blew for half time. Half Time score 1-4 to 0-3.

Six minutes gone in the second half, what Burns was denied in doing before half time, but perfectly did in the second half, this time to Ger Bannon and pointed the 4th point from 25 meters out. McDonagh won the kick out with a Mark. Ferdia Donohoe was also involved in the move which allowed Ciaran O'Shea, for a shot over the bar.

0-5 to 1-4 was the score at the second half Swig of the Magic Bottle, but water wouldn't suffice for the Foxrock men who had a Orange Mocha-Chip Frappuccino break instead, and whatever was in those Orange Mocha-Chip Frappuccino's had the desired effect as they upped their game and hit a brace of points in a space of four minutes. O'Shea's bid for a brace ended when a shot went wide as the Geraldine P Moran's subs bench raised their Orange Mocha-Chip Frappuccino's in celebration.

Another point followed for the Foxrock men but Fintan Culhane ensured no seven point lead for now with a timely turnover and free out. Two minutes later and Ger's eventually made it a seven point lead and could have wrapped up the match in style in another defensive splitting move, but Frankin 'Kepa' O Reilly was in hand the provoke the forward to palming the ball wide with one person on the sideline spilling his Orange Mocha-Chip Frappuccino thinking the ball was in the net. Moran's did get the ball in the net but the goal didn't count because the player attempted to fist the ball over the bar from 22 meters but ended in the net.

The final whisle went and another worrying defeat for The Dark Force who now face Cuala on July 6th on Round 3 of AFL5 South, no doubt the players will be disappointted today but with another game coming up, the team will do everything possible to put what went wrong today, right on July 6th.

Final score from Ballyogan Wood, St Brendan's 0-5 Geraldine P Moran's 1-9.
