Sat, 07 nov 2025 - On a crisp afternoon high up in the Dublin Mountains, with the Hell Fire Club peeking through the trees, the Under 11 girls of St. Brendans GAA took on Ballyboden Wanderers in their final camogie match of 2025. The home crowd were loud, the air was thin, and the camogie was top class. St. Brendans got going straight away, pushing forward with purpose. The midfield trio of Louise, Emma and Matylda covered every blade of grass, turning defence into attack again and again. Early pressure paid off when Casey found space in front of goal and buried the sliotar into the net. A roar echoed down the mountain. Moments later, she added a point to her tally to keep the excitement flowing on the sideline. Ballyboden Wanderers weren’t there to make up the numbers though, and they launched several dangerous attacks. Luckily, they ran straight into a wall of determination. Defenders Amalia and Clara were fearless, sticking tight to their markers and clearing their lines like seasoned pros. And when Ballyboden did break through, Evie in goal showed nerves of steel, pulling off smart saves and barking instructions like a captain. Up front, Amely and Sofia gave the Wanderers plenty to worry about with their constant movement, while Louise & Emma continued to cause havoc. Cara was flying as well, full of energy and tricky runs, until a painful foot injury forced her off early. She still got a huge cheer from her teammates as she left the pitch, and will no doubt be back terrorising defences in no time. St. Brendans pushed on again after the break. Matylda smashed in a brilliant goal that rattled the net and the confidence of the home side. Louise then added a cracking goal of her own, capping off a fantastic all-round performance in midfield. Emma wasn’t leaving without her name on the scoreboard either, firing over a brilliant point to keep the pressure firmly on Ballyboden. The Wanderers fought hard right to the final whistle, but the girls from St. Brendans held firm, kept cool and finished the year with a well-earned win. When the referee called time, the celebrations began. Tired legs, beaming smiles and proud parents all around. A great match. A great season. And a team that just keeps getting better. Roll on 2026 — St. Brendans are ready for more!
