Now that the clocks have sprung forward, The St Brendan’s Ladies Football teams now have their Wednesday evenings occupied for the next few months and in the case of the St Brendan’s Camogie team, Tuesday Evenings.

On March 31st, The Camogie team, sponsored by sponsored by Comtech Engineering and Ryans of Camden Street, travelled to Rathcoole and the opening fixture of the Camogie Junior 2 League against Commercials

However, it was an evening to forget for The Dark Force Camogs as Commercials ran out comfortable 6-10 to 1-1 winners.

Ladies Football took centre stage 24 hours later with the 1st and 2nd teams in action.

First up were the 1sts, Sponsored by McGowans and an away trip to Portmarnock and a fixture against Naomh Mearnog in Adult League Division 4.

But it was the home side that took the 2 League points on a final score of 1-14 to 1-5.

Heather Cullen got the goal for The Female Dark Force, but she also had two goals disallowed during the match.

Also on the same evening and this time in Skerries, the 2nd XV, sponsored by Bartra Healthcare commenced their Adult League Division 7 season with a fixture against Skerries Harps, however the home team ran out comprehensive winners.

The 3rds, Sponsored by FTI Consulting, got their season up and running on April 8th with a home fixture against Erins Isle in Adult League Division 12, a bit of a tall order considering that Erins Isle returned a score of 6-10 last Wednesday against St Margaret’s.

Tall order? The Female Darker than Dark Force got a very encouraging draw against the Finglas outfit on a score of 1-4 to 2-1.

Lacie Richardson got the goal and a point, Rois Ní Domhnaill scored a brace and Martha Jones with a last gasp buzzer beater to rescue a draw for her side.

On Sunday April 11th, The St Brendan’s Mens Football 1st XV, sponsored by Dynamic Safety Solutions, travelled, to the village of St Margaret’s and a fixture against the team who call themselves ‘The Maggies’, in a bid to get the 2026 Go Ahead AFL6 campaign back on track following the draw against Wanderers three weeks ago.

With the fuel crisis going on at the time the match was played, some travelled to St Margaret’s on bikes, some pooled into electric vehicles, like John Tuffy’s Tesla. But David Beggy travelled to St Margaret’s in his diesel powered motor car.

And The Dark Force came out of St Margaret’s with a morale boosting win on a final score of 2-14 to 0-11, with The Valley Rover Tadhg O’Brien scoring both goals, thanks to an assist from Tom ‘Klaebo’ Grainger in the first half and from substitute Liam Nagle mid-way through the second half. O’Brien also scored a two pointer.

The Team: 1. Dave McElester, 2. John Dorrian, 3. Brian Marley, 4. Stephen Durkan, 5. Donal Clarke, 6. Liam Atkinson, 7. Conall Morgan, 8. Sean Whelan, 9. Tom Grainger, 10. Adam Lynch, 11. Tadhg O’Brien, 12. Scott O’Rourke, 13. Brendan Brogan, 14. Nicky McCafferty, 15. Kevin Berry

Sub used Liam Nagle for Clarke.

However, there was no such luck for The St Brendan’s Football 2nd XV, in partnership with Stoneybatter Pride of Place in Man O’War later in the afternoon, despite half of the team carpooling in John Tuffy’s Tesla and the other half put their bikes on the train, got off at Rush and Lusk train station and cycled to Man O’War with a stiff uphill climb leading to the pitch. The tough climb probably took its toll as the local side ran out comfortable 4-16 to 2-5 winners. Fergal ‘I Am Maximus’ Lyons scored both goals and two single points for The Darkest Force.
